Memori
I was helping at my aunty's english tuition centre this weekend, had three classes with Grade 3 and 4 students. It's was spontaenuous so i wonder if i made any mistakes in explaining grammar usage (seriously, i think i made some). My dad called it 'misleading'.
So it brought me to the Pedada shoplots that were once so familiar to me. Chopsticks the coffee shop, the coffee shop at the other end of the shop, and a few in other shoplots, two bakeries, Everise the shopping centre, many other varieties of shops around, and not forgetting, Muhibbah the mamak stalls.
I was Form Four. A few of us were taking physics and add maths tuition classes at Newton's. Every tuesday and thursday, two continuous classes of two hours each, with thirty minutes break in the middle. We were talkative, talked all the way in every class. We extended the thirty minutes break ourselves and made it fourty or sometimes fourty five, making ourselves late for physics class every time and mr kong couldn't do anything to'us. Sometimes we'd bump into our school's physics teacher on the way to dinner since he's having tuition class in the neighbouring shoplot.
I visited the bakery this afternoon for lunch. We used to buy bread for dinner when we were tired of fried noodles and kampua. I saw the egg white cake which we used to buy before. It's still there, bringing me more vivid memories about our 'adventures' there, choosing different kinds of bread everytime we came.
Unfortunately it was raining, or i would walk further to another bakery that was popular (for me) with hotdog-salad-bread, a break wrapped with hotdog and salad, obviously, i never get tired of eating it. I wonder if it's still there now. Yea i remember the name of the bakery, Ri Liang Mian Bao, i remember how the tauke or sometimes the taukenio teaches their sons reading.
I stood still, eating the newly bought bread, played with my handphone, and glanced at the road where we used to walk around. The road which we took to Everise, the road which we dared to walk in the middle like our grandfather owned the road, the road that let us continued our non-stop talking after our maths class, which was to be continued to physics class.
Glancing further away, there're more coffee shops. One incident. I helped freya to pour coke inside her tupperware and (maybe) i didn't seal it tight. Then we found out in physics class that it burst and her bag was wet with coke. Papers, pencil bag, everything was drenched. I was petrified. Her calculator was kena masuk water too. Until her calculator was fixed, my calculator was with her as an exchange just in case her calculator died. Year later when i told somebody about this, she said it may be the bubbles of the coke that made the cover burst. Yea, why didn't i think of that. So it's either i didn't seal it tight or the bubbles did this to us.
Everise, a shopping centre that we used to buy junks and loiter at. During festivals my mom would come along with dad to pick me up then we would go there to buy some junks. We hardly go there since i stopped having tuition classes after form five.
Muhibbah, i used to have supper with dad and brother after our classes end at nine. If i see my brother following in the car, i'd know that we're going to muhibbah. Dad specially like one kampua stall, and we'd order satay and salad sotong. I guessed we never changed our menu. My mom didn't like it there, she hated it when people from different stalls coming to our table and ask us to order their things. It's always crowded there, smoky and noisy.
In Form five i did not take add maths anymore so i no longer had the fun loitering around, after class. I just went to class in time and went back after that. But i always treasure the time we spent together, talking nonsence, seldom do the work that mr kong asked us to try, and copied the answers as hard as we could.
Memories, sometimes they're so real.

Tkd
There was an inter-school taekwondo tournament last weekend. I was very guai to go to school and helped coach although i'd already planned something else that weekend. So Saturday i stayed at methodist school for the whole day, first tkd, then 大专之夜.
Helped coach on arranging the sequence of the competition for each person of his school. Eg student A will be sparring in Ring A for round 29, 52 and 71. If he wins 29, then he can go to 52 then later to 71, final. It's quite a mess really because there were many students who're competiting, and the rounds were all arranged next to each other so the body protectors were not enough. So i sort of messed up in the middle and dragged one round of the competition. Felt guilty for that.
At 7pm the competition was not over yet since the participants were just too many. So i left the stadium to the hall for 大专之夜, a program which give students advices on the dos and don'ts on entering university. So there'll be representatives from each uni giving freshmens some advices before they take off next week. I sneacked into the um group with sylvia to see how it went (since we were not part of the team). Met three students who are going to stay in 7th college, dunno how many more from sibu will come (if i got to stay of course...).
Overslept and went to school late the second day to watch the finals. Finally coach's school, Chung Hua got men's second place. Many of them were newbies so their techniques need more improvement(me too).
Had my first bicycle lesson with my dad and my brother (he kept mocking me~ ok he has learnt once and that's his second time, it's my first time man...). I'm yet to control my balance, how to 'pusing' and how to brake without bumping into something else. Wish me luck. =D

(with TechChiang, primary five kid, never gets tired, when others are tired after the competition, breathing heavily, legs shaking, he's there, innocent looking, not a trace of tiredness... a very naughty boy, used to have grading test with him, now he's gotten poom belt and i'm still the same old me...)

Telephone call~
Received a phone call just now, looking for my gram.
S=sweet-voiced girl, M=me
S= Hello is this XXX? (That's my gram's name)
M= Hi she's my grandma, she's not good in Chinese so i'm answering for her. Who's this calling??
S= I'm Ling from XX travel agency. We're very happy to let you know that tomorrow there'd be a tv show at 6pm at XX channel, Astro. We want to invite you to watch the program. There'd be celebreties performing on stage, Fish Leong will be performing too.
M= Oh ok.
S= (sweetly) So we'll be having lucky draw during the show and i'm here to give you your number XXXXXX, you'll stand a chance to win! Please do watch the show and should you win the price, we'll immediately contact you.
M= Ok. Where's your company based?
S= We're currently in Hong Kong. We're planning to have a branch in Malaysia next year.
M= Where will your company be, in Malaysia?
S= (0.05 second of hesitation) Oh we've haven't thought of that but the decision will come out in our future meetings. I think it'll probably in Kuala Lumpur.
M= (in awe) Oh ok.
S= (never changes her sweet voice) Ok thank you for your time. Good luck to you and your family.
M= (nicely) Bye.(put down the phone patiently)
I can't believe they are still using the same story, after...years? This's the third time i receive this kinda call... the stories are all the same. (Maybe slightly different in the story but the company will ALWAYS in Hong Kong)
A few days later the girl'll call again telling me i've won the lucky draw. I'm going to create a story for her too...(evil grin)
I wonder who did the girl get the name from. I told gram the phone call and she laughed it off, saying they called a few time before. (But i wonder if it's her because she seldom understands Chinese)
What a call. >.<

:P
Event: U6S1 gathering
Date: May 31, 2009
Time: 7 pm
Venue: Shabu Shabu Restaurant
Attendees: AndrewEh, ChekIng, TeckLuk, Danny, Leslie, LeeKhan, AndrewSia, Edwina, Cindy, Michelle, Me, EeZhen, UngHwa, Janis, Peter.
Absentees: Joyce, JingEe, Tiffany, BaYu, LingAi.
Topic: Random, mostly about uni life.
-Danny talked about his dramatic experience of witnessing a road accident in Melaka. A girl was hit and FLEW two stories high (according to him), fell down, body and hand badly twisted and pink juicy substances flowing out from her injured head. The driver ran away. (Ewww, we were just about to have our dinner.)
-Edwina was as usual, complaining about her uni, lecturers, everything.
-Cindy mentioned she has to ‘bao ci xing xiang’.
-Both Andrews were unexpectionally quiet.
-Overall, girls had girls talk, and guys were on their own.
So,
1. Fun to have most people present, everyone is still very much the same.
2. Avoid going to Shabu Shabu next time. The service’s slow and the staffs were unfriendly. Their tone’s rude and the way the lady gave us the bill’s like an ‘Ah Loong’ asking for money.

Back home :D
I’m finally backed home to Sibu, where I can have all nice sleeps and rests and food. Before this I had NVC, a programme that we went to secondary schools to promote, explain and answer questions about the faculties available in um. It’s a two-week-trip to a particular school in different states in penisular, schools in Teluk Intan, Perak; Jitra, Kedah; Kota Bahru, Kelantan; Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu; Raub, Pahang; Batu Pahat, Johor; Alor Gajah, Melaka.
During the trip, I realized/experienced/felt/saw/ate,
1. The Malay Language I spoke for these two weeks was more than what I spoke in my first 20 years.
2. Aside from KL, other cities in penisular don’t have as many tall buildings, which are very much like Sibu, or perhaps Bintangor. Yet few people still think that East Malaysians live on trees. Like Freya said, tourism advertisements could be blamed for that. Usually when West Malaysia is shooted, KL tower, KLCC will appear on the screen, while when it comes Sarawak, rainforests, longhouses, natives will come out. Thus it creates the misconception that WM is advanced and places in EM are all rural and people still live on trees. ;P
3. Terengganu state public library looked not smaller than UM library. Is UM library really the biggest in the country?
4. KL is heavily polluted as I don’t experience mosquitoes and insects in campus. In Kelantan and Terengganu especially, my limbs were itchy due to countless insect bites. (Though it’s very irritating, but it’s somehow a good and delighting sign that the ecosystems there are still well preserved.)
5. Life would be so much better if our college is more equipped and clean. The best hostel I experienced in the trip was UDM’s. The size and the interior of the apartments are (not to be remembered or I’ll complain more on our beloved 7th college.)
6. People got to plan before act. Spontaneity can’t be applied every time, not everyone can accept it.
7. Older people seldom admit their mistakes. Youngsters are usually blamed before they realize their own mistakes.
8. Speak is easier than act, some speak and never act, some act before they speak.
9. My first dunkin donut, somewhere in the highway between kl and johor – bought at a convenient store in petronas gas station.
10. Became a two-minute-muslim (outwardly-with the muslims robes and tudung on) while we were visiting masjid crystal in terengganu. The building is very pretty, got to see nice Islamic architecture there.
11. Banjaran Titiwangsa is so beautiful, I was never tired of looking at the green in our journey, it’s truly of God’s creation. ^^
12. 12.05am, May 21, on the highway before Daerah Yong Peng, Johor, it was the first time I saw so many stars in the sky. They’re simply countless. I couldn’t take my eyes off the stars, they’re so pretty. Always I only saw a couple of stars in the sky, both in KL and in Sibu (guess I live in the town with all ridiculously bright lights that block the stars from our sight).
13. Global warming is really an important issue that everyone should be aware of. I thought only KL’s weather is hot but it’s the same with all other places. I thought rural areas would be cooler and unfortunately they’re not. It’s freaking hot everywhere.
It’s a nice trip and I had fun getting together with the members, 31 people traveling in a bus for two weeks is not a coincidence. I had great time with (especially) the first years, and seeing the playful side of the second years. I’m really thankful for the programme, not only I can help students, but I’ve helped myself too (except that I ruined my stomach due to irregular time of eating and my eyebags are fully developed due to lack of sleep ).
After the trip I went to Yin’s place at the very same day (thanks calvin for taking me there). I felt homey, finally can have a nice sleep after the tiring trip. Yin came back the second day and we had great time transferring movies and dramas from our pcs (now I’ve so many dramas to watch I dunno where to start off….).
We went for movie the next day, Star Trek at Times Square. I’m never a star trek fan until I watch the movie. It’s a very fascinating sci-fi movie, I came out appalling Spock (Zachary Quinto), although he’s the ultimate bad guy in Heroes, but he’s so cool and manly in the movie… Keke… The only not-good-thing was there were some technical problem, that the movie stopped when the movie was in it’s climax and everyone was like “Ooohhhh….”, including me. I dunno what happened to the technicians they took at least 15 minutes to make the movie back to normal, and everyone can watch it happily. But in all, it’s still a very good movie and the problem didn’t spoil the fun watching it.
I watched 11 epis of hyakki yakoushou in yin’s house, and the yesterday the last epi. It’s a short jap drama about a boy who can see ghosts and spirits, and how he encounter those who want to hurt him. I like the drama very much though it’s not a very fast-action-based drama with extraordinary technologies and story line, but rather a (slow) story that touch on family, friendship, promises and faith. From the drama, it can be seen that the Japanese really believe there are spirits every living things or non living things, that may be one of the reasons that they still preserve their culture, nature and environment very well despite rapid development in the cities.
Am in love with Bleach’s op, Velonica by Aquaz Times. ^^
It’s time to do a detailed planning on how to read all books, watch all movies, and meet all friends in five weeks. Ganbarimasu.

Christmas tree competition
There's a Christmas tree competition in town. 13 christmas trees which are decorated by different companies and organization are displayed at town square.

(I like especially this one, it's all made by bottles, hundreds of bottles with coloured liquid inside, dunno how does it look like in the night...)

(This one is not for competition i guess, it's the biggest, located in the middle of town square.)
It'd be better if the pics are taken in night with the lightings on... sadly my phone doesn allow that... no choice... which one do you think will win the first prize?
